BioBook is not just an electronic textbook, it is an adaptable "eSource." Like a print textbook it provides printed text, photos, and diagrams to support students as they read. Unlike traditional textbooks though, BioBook can be revised, reorganized, and extended quickly and easily. It adapts to meet student, instructor, and course goals, not the other way around.
Wish you could change the topic order of your current text?
As a teacher you can take individual pages of our content library and create your own custom book. Each page is changeable and the changes are visible to your class only. Of course you can also create new pages.
Has a new discovery changed how we think about a concept?
Teachers can revise and rewrite BioBook. Correct errors or highlight new discoveries right away. Add supplements to a topic students find difficult. Try other explanations for threshold concepts.
Want to experiment with new teaching tools or social media in the classroom?
Choose which tools you would like to use in your class. BioBook's integrated tools include blogs and forums for discussions, and wiki pages for collaborative writing. Use social media tools to follow class Twitter or RSS news feeds.
Have material of your own you want to incorporate?
Turn existing resources into downloadable attachments, integrated pages, or links out to other sites.
Want to incorporate resources from the web?
If you have a link, chances are you can integrate it into BioBook. Embed videos from YouTube, Vimeo, or specialized educational sites. Let students use national databases for searching literature. Think bigger than a traditional book.
Want to know which pages students read most, or if they are really doing their work?
Not a problem. The action log lets you monitor a student's activity and check which pages are read.
